Wine Classes, taught by our Winemaking Team

We’re excited to spend the summer teaching you all about wine! We’re introducing a series of five classes that will be offered every Saturday afternoon. The classes will build on each other, but will also be fun on their own! Throughout all of the classes, you will learn about our Minnesota varietals and walk away with the confidence to talk intelligently about wine, whether it’s a Cabernet Sauvignon or a Frontenac Gris.

Wine Buzz Words: We’ll cover how to describe what you’re tasting. We’ll discuss the buzz words that winemakers are using, why and most importantly, what do they mean? We’ll walk you through the interactive and fun process of understanding these descriptors. Want to call a wine buttery? Want to describe one as clean? You’ll be an expert soon enough!

Does the nose Know?: These exercises will help wine lovers identify aromas in wines and strengthen the connection between the nose and our memory. This allows us to feel comfortable and confident describing the aromas we distinguish in wines! Different aromas will be lined up and used teach you to identify the many aromas you can recognize in our wines and others.
Offered May 14th, June 18th, July 16th, and August 13th
Bench Trial Class: All you wine lovers will receive in depth knowledge on necessary adjustments that our winemakers make. This involves experiencing different levels of sweetness, dryness, and alcohol and then balancing every factor to make a great wine.
Offered May 21st, June 25th, July 23rd, and August 20th
How to Taste like a Winemaker: Together, we will identify wines by looking at every component of the wine. We will judge their color, swirl the glass for aroma, and finally taste it, paying close attention to the path it takes on the tongue. This class is all about the details of wine tasting.

Harvesting Decisions: Take a beautiful stroll through the vineyard and watch the changing grapes. What varietals grow well here and why? Why do we use different types of trellises?
